Why You Should Make Masking a Skincare Ritual

Why You Should Make Masking a Skincare Ritual

Having a mask in your skincare lineup is an absolute yes! Many people opt out of masking because they either don’t have the time, or they don’t know what type of mask to use. However, adding a weekly masking ritual may be more beneficial to your skin health than you think. So what are face masks even? We’re so glad you asked!

“So what are face masks even?”

Face masks are products that contain highly concentrated ingredients specifically formulated to address concerns related to the skin’s health and appearance. Face masks can be used for a wide range of skin health goals. They are known to exfoliate, hydrate, even skin tone + texture, unclog pores, and so much more. Whatever specific need your skin may have, there’s a [BareNine] mask for that!

There are several different types of masks available on the market; however we will focus on the two types that we offer at our skincare shop. Clay Masks + Gel Masks.

Gel Masks: Gel Masks are multi-functional masks formulated to address wide ranges of skin issues. Gel masks are known for their super lightweight texture that makes them easily absorbed. Gel masks boost the skins hydration while refining and smoothing the texture. Typically for people with dry + sensitive skin types. We currently offer two gel masks: On The Bright Side Gel Mask + Nip It In The Bud Gel Mask.

Clay Masks: Clay masks are typically composed of various clays and powders, formulated to draw out oils and impurities from the skin. These masks offer a deep detox of pores, and refine the skin’s overall appearance, tone + texture. Great for all skin types, but typically used to control acne breakouts and sebum production. We offer two types of clay masks as well. Eureka! Brightening Clay Mask + Below Sea Level Purifying Clay Mask.

“Do I really need to mask?”

Masking does for skin what deep conditioning does for hair. While some people can maintain healthy skin goals without a mask routine, it is highly suggested to reach optimal skin health. Masks are formulated to target problem areas even the best cleansers cannot reach. Here are a few of our favorite reasons to add masking into your routine:

• Super relaxing practice/ reduces stress

• Clay masks sink deep into pores to detox clogged pores and deep clean skin

• Visibily improves the overall appearance of skin tone + texture

• Targets problem areas + dark spots effectively

• Leaves skin supple, smooth + soft

“How often should I mask + when?”

You’ve finally decided masking is for you and want to add it to your routine, but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered here as well!  Face masks should be applied 1-2 times a week. Depending on your skin goals and the type of mask you are using, you may need to use the face mask more or less often. Masks are applied after your cleansing and toning steps of your skincare routine. We recommending adding it into your skincare routine on a day you will remember. Like #FaceMaskFriday or #SelfcareSunday. Whatever day you choose, we highly recommend you bask in the relaxation of a face mask.
